Lest Best – Branded Film
A new language can change how a new country feels.
Lest Best helps expats, international students and newcomers learn Dutch and build confidence in everyday life in the Netherlands.
For its new visual campaign, the film needed to introduce Lest Best to a wider audience while showing what language education can mean beyond the classroom: greater independence, connection and a stronger sense of belonging.
As cinematographer, my focus was on giving that message a visual language that felt human and approachable without losing cinematic depth.
We chose to shoot anamorphic with Blazar Remus lenses, using the wider frame, softer falloff and characteristic rendering to move the film away from a conventional educational or corporate aesthetic. The format gave the environments more presence while keeping the people at the center of the image.
That balance was important. The cinematography needed to elevate the story without overpowering its purpose. Locations, natural performances and the anamorphic image work together to create something warm and cinematic while allowing the message to remain direct.
The result is a branded film in which the visual language supports what Lest Best ultimately offers: not simply learning Dutch, but feeling more at home in the world around you.
