Fiction Director

INTRO

Fiction is where character, performance and visual storytelling come together.

As a director, I am interested in stories that place people under pressure: moments in which characters have to make decisions, confront the past or enter situations they can no longer control.

My work ranges from intimate drama to larger cinematic concepts, always with story and character as the foundation.

Narrative filmmaking

Building worlds around characters

A film can have scale, action and visual ambition, but none of it matters if the audience does not care about the people inside the frame.

That balance is central to the way I approach fiction.

I work closely with actors to find believable behaviour and emotional truth while developing a visual language that supports the story rather than simply illustrating it.

Camera movement, composition, production design, sound and editing become part of the narrative.

Development

From screenplay to screen

I enjoy being involved early in the development of a film.

That can include screenplay development, visual research, character work, location concepts, casting, shot design, previsualisation and conversations about how a story can be produced effectively without losing its ambition.

My background as a cinematographer gives me an additional technical understanding of how ideas translate from script to set, but the directing decisions always begin with story.
